This recipe reminds me of a Hamburger Helper but it is better in every way. The sausage is a good change from the standard ground hamburger/turkey/chicken and the bell peppers give it a different flair. It’s visually appealing (in case you are making it for company) and the taste is out of the world! Plus, it’s a one-pan meal! I personally used our Ninja 3-in-1 Cooking System that we got for Christmas but it could be made stove top just as easily. I’m a big fan of pasta meals that I don’t have to use an entirely different pan just to boil pasta.
- 16 oz Ground Italian Sausage
- 16 oz Penne Pasta
- 1 Onion
- 2 Red Bell Peppers
- 3 cups Chicken Broth
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 1 cup Mozzarella
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
Chop onion and bell peppers
Combine sausage, onion, and bell peppers in a non-stick saucepan over medium heat and cook until sausage is brown
Add chicken broth, uncooked pasta, and Italian seasoning. Cover and reduce heat to medium-low for 14 minutes (until pasta is done)
Add mozzarella and heavy cream then stir until mixed well
Check out this incredibly easy (and fast) way to chop an onion!
